the seed story...
Hi, I’m Emily – founder of Seed Organic Wholefoods
I began this company with the simple aim to provide Certified Organic, Raw and Natural Food the way nature intended.
Good food that is sourced as local as possible, affordable and, above all, enjoyable.
Like many working women (and men, sorry guys!) my personal health and wellbeing sat pitifully low on my list of
‘priorities’ – somewhere between folding socks and ensuring the kids lunch boxes contained real whole foods. I was ‘too busy’ and ignored all of the warning signs from my body.
In 2012 those issues escalated to the point that I couldn’t ignore them. I overhauled my pantry and made serious changes to mine and my family’s lifestyle, but I found myself no better than before. I didn't understand why? I led an active lifestyle,
bought healthy groceries and prepared nutritious meals- I was doing everything right. So why wasn’t I feeling the benefit?
I looked deeper and realised that much of the food and produce I was buying from the supermarket was full of unnecessary additives, chemicals and toxins that were not only counteracting my efforts but actually damaging my health.
So I sought out a nutritionist, spent hours doing research online (who knew the internet was for more than just Pinterest!), and went on special diets. All of my efforts pointed me toward organic food.
I started small – local organic fruit and veg from the market, replacing basic everyday food items with organic alternatives.
I noticed the difference within a few weeks - I was flourishing! As my health continued to improve I increased the organics.
Since then, I’ve been eating a mostly organic diet (there’s still the odd conventional product here & there) and I honestly have never felt better! I can hardly remember what it was like to be perpetually off-colour – it seems like such a waste of a life.
I can’t believe it took me so long to listen to my body but after being so mistreated for so long my body and I are back on speaking terms (we’re almost friends again).
Once I had incorporated organic food into my life, I saw another obstacle. I wanted to be able to buy my organics from one place but I was running around ordering from five different stores just to get the basics – and the variety left a much to be
desired. I felt that good food shouldn't be so difficult to access and from there the seed was planted. I decided to start my own business to make organic food affordable and easy.
